Abomination Series: You Vote on the Horrors of the Weird West!

Howdy folks! Sign ups have started for the online OCTGN League in support of Child’s Play in the upcoming ConPlus convention right here: Abomination Series - OCTGN League + Charity Event

For those attending upcoming events, the full spreadsheet will be posted later today and we’d like to talk about the theme for this series!

In bringing on Richard Carter for the new Lead Designer for Doomtown, we had discussed introducing more Abominations from the Weird West into the game. To do this, we’re letting you, the players, influence which terrors that go bump in the night we will see through cards and fiction in the upcoming Twilight Protocol Series (http://pineboxentertainment.com/2018/08/04/the-twilight-protocol-destination-events-in-2019/)

So folks, here’s how it’s going to work!

As you attend these events, you vote on one of the following options, or alternatively, you can write in your own vote! The winner of each event gets 2 votes and each Event Organizer will submit the results to Pine Box Entertainment.

Scarecrow: Animated by the Reckoners so it might scare more than just crows. A scarecrow is made from clothing once worn by a person, stuffed with corn husks or straw. The head is often a pumpkin or dried gourd, but it might be a grain sack with buttons for eyes and a stitched mouth. And while normal scarecrows don’t often have hands or feet, this abomination has both. These critters are active only at night during the growing season and they “sleep” the rest of the time, usually hanging on a pole, pretending to be normal scarecrows.

Glom: A ’glom (short for conglomerate) is a group of corpses joined together into a horrifying mass and animated by an especially strong manitou. The parts of the component bodies can be seen clearly, although they are merged inseparably into a single abomination. Limbs protrude in all directions, and a variety of heads and faces can be seen all over the mass. Often the various heads giggle or gibber incoherently as the monster moves. The creation of a ’glom not only requires a very high Fear Level, but also vast quantities of corpses. During the first months of the Reckoning, ’gloms rose from piles of the dead on several battlefields.

Wendigo: Wendigos are the twisted spirits of those who consumed their fellows to survive in the Great Weird North. Their eerie howls can be heard in just about any cold climate, particularly in the Cascade Mountains. They might also appear in more southern areas during harsh winters, but return north as it grows warmer. Wendigos crave one simple thing: human flesh to feed their gnawing hunger

Werewolf: When a full moon shines overhead, humans infected with lycanthropy lose control and change into snarling creatures bent on murder. Some embrace their cursed state and revel in the destruction they cause.
Many werewolves existed even before the Reckoning, their curse passed through blood and bite from a time
before the Old Ones closed off the Hunting Grounds.

Terrormental: The terrormentals are terrifying memories from times gone by. Unlike elementals of mythology, these
creatures are born and bred of the Reckoning. As such, their goal is destruction, mayhem, and above all, the creation of terror. Terrormentals can change forms as needed. Terrormentals of different sizes can be summoned by black magic and cultists.

Nosferatu: Driven solely by their bloodlust, these abominations seldom think beyond their next meal. Although possessed of an animal cunning at times, the most common tactic for the monsters is an overwhelming ambush. Any time spent planning beyond that cuts into valuable feeding time. Nosferatu can speak in a lisping, sibilant voice, but most use their mouths only for feasting on their victims. They are most commonly found on Baron LaCroix’s “Night Trains.”

Feel free to respond in campaigning for the Abomination you want to make sure sees it’s way into Doomtown. As always we hope you all have fun playing in and following this Series

The beginning of the greatest write-in campaign ever?

Despite being on the “Corrupt” side, I have fond memories of fans mobilising for “Girls who Wear Glasses Kick Servitor Asses” on behalf of Valeria Batten completing her redemption arc (which I admit made more sense than my vote, but I’m mean).

It might be fun to add some of the artwork from the RPG (or Doomtown Classic) for each monster. I love those Classic designs!
