It's easy to be "more creative" when you're just making new mechanics all day and not sticking around to support any one of them, or worrying about complexity scaring off newer players. If AEG was doing what FR was doing, everyone would be mad at them because WHATEVER theme or faction you liked, it wouldn't be getting nearly enough support, and it'd be near-impossible to recruit new players.

EDIT: Also, I realize here, he has a kuchisake-onna Dude card that's aligned with Maze Rats, when the kuchisake-onna myth is A: Japanese, not Chinese, and B: from the mid-1970s. You have no idea how much this bothers me.
Not as much as it bothers me that El Chupacabra is a monster that officially exists in the setting, when El Chupacabra was created in 1996 by a woman who saw the movie "Species" and didn't quite get the distinction between fantasy and reality. But it still bothers me.
