Deadlands Destination Event: Deadwood, Aug 18-22, 2021

Callout event – Dueling in Deadwood
Saturday, August 21, 2021 – 8pm to 11pm
Holiday Inn Express Ballroom

The Doomtown in Deadwood celebration continues featuring open play with a twist. Challenge the fastest guns and trickiest spells in a casual format.

August, 1882 – The Weird West has seen many rough and tumble towns come and go. Towns like Deadwood, South Dakota have names whispered in hushed tones that speak of sin and death. Mostly Death. But before there was Death, there was War. Surrounded by the scorched battlefields of the Black Hills of the Dakota badlands, a boomtown clings to survival. Wherever dreams are made, there will be drifters to chase them. But there are also those who would snuff out those dreams, taking a few lives with them.

You, Pardner, find yourself embroiled in this escalating conflict. Thieves take the money and run. Bounty hunters cash in. Can you survive dueling in Deadwood?

Each player enters Deadwood with the highest of the following bounties:
Doomtown co-Designer – 5 Bounty
PBE co-owner – 4 Bounty
Marshal event winner – 3 Bounty
PBE PT or team member – 2 Bounty
Drifter – 1 Bounty

Bonuses to starting bounty:
Your deck is:
• Bicycle (+3)
• Highlander (only 1 of each card) (+2)
• Double Barrel (no more than 2 of each card) (+1)
• Attend event in Weird West-themed Cosplay: (+1)

This is a ‘come and go’ event – dudes can drift into Deadwood or leave at any time. Find someone who isn’t involved in a game and Call ‘em out! They can’t refuse! Have at it and play a game of Doomtown!

The ‘nuts n bolts’
After a match, the winning player divides the other player’s pre-match bounty into theirs (Losing player gains 0 bounty), e.g. Loser/ Winner. Add this to their previous bounty for their new bounty.

example: Designer (5 bounty) defeats PBE Team Member (2 bounty)
Designer adds 0.4 bounty (2/5) and now has 5.4 bounty
(round to tenths, lost decimals NOT tracked or remembered)

If PBE Team won, it would be:
PBE Team adds 2.5 bounty (5/2) and now has 4.5 bounty

This encourages ‘level play’ e.g. top players playing each other (and some strategy of the call outs).

While a mismatch doesn’t gain that much for the winning player, losers get 0 points. Think of it as betting on 20-1 long shot horses. You can win big, but more often, you lose and gain nothing at the time.
