First Winner - Coinflip or Pull?

Pinebox,
I was told at PAX that the “first winner” will no longer be decided with a coinflip - say for deciding between which Grifter React goes first (Rico vs Travis, for example) prior to the outcome of the first Lowball deciding this.

Is this true?
If a pull, is it high or low?
What happens if the pull is a tie?
And where do the pulled cards go?
And if I pull a Joker, what happens then?

Coin flip or other random method still applies.

Page 15 of the current rulebook:

“If you wish to resolve a Grifter ability in your starting posse, do so now. If both players have
Grifters, randomly determine who resolves their ability first (use a coin toss or other convenient
method).”
