News on Upcoming Events and Site Change

Howdy folks! We did a little rearranging on the categories and I wanted to explain some plans moving forward.

You’ll notice the Events & Tournaments category has been renamed to Events & Gatherings: Playing Doomtown. As part of our mission statement and brand, moving forward in the upcoming fall Abomination Series, we will no longer be using the terms Tournament, Championship, or Worlds. This is in line with changing our mentality that Doomtown is a game about community, and our events focus on participation. Sure we have some pretty cool prizes for winners and one could argue that makes it still competitive, but our goal is to bring people together to talk about and play our beloved hobby and that our events are in experience that players will enjoy.

At GenCon 2018 we will conclude the first two years of Worlds/Championship events in the US and UK for Doomtown under Pine Box Entertainment, releasing the final Servitor mat for the Top 8 attendees as well as our highly anticipated fiction event and Greenhorn events for new players. This format you’ll find to be different in 2019 and 2020, as we feature one major ‘Destination Event’ each year. At GenCon we will be announcing story event plans for next year and our overall approach to organized play, in addition to plans for some amazing events at upcoming conventions.

As we look forward to Kickstarter fulfillment by August and it’s release in stores in September, ‘Too Tough to Die’ in October, and more sets to come, we hope you will join our new players in these upcoming gatherings and will continue to enjoy what I’ve recently heard described as the ‘golden age’ of Doomtown
