Rabbit's Deception and Focusing Chi

Hi, I noticed during a game today that Rabbit’s Deception reads:

Shootout Tao Technique: If successful, send this dude home booted. If your dude was unbooted when you played this card, you may also send an opposing dude home booted. Combo if there is a stud in the opposing posse.

I’m pretty sure this means that if you perform Rabbit’s Deception with a booted dude, and pull a Focusing Chi, you won’t get the If clause, due to the dude being booted at the time of the card being played.

Is this accurate?

You are correct! The Dude was booted at the time the card was played and thus does not receive the unbooted benefit.
