Violet Esperanza

Shootout: Choose an opposing dude with bullets less than Violet’s bounty while Violet is attempting a job. Ace Violet’s Hex and pull. If the pull is greater than that dude’s value, ace that dude.

According to the linked ruling, she can nuke a dude even if she doesn’t have a hex. Is this the correct interpretation of her card?

The linked ruling and this card was reviewed by the templating and rules team for Pine Box. For this mistake, we apologize, as we did not catch the correct wording as it should be used with the intent of the card.

The current wording is:

Shootout: Choose an opposing dude with bullets less than Violet’s bounty while Violet is attempting a job. Ace Violet’s Hex and pull. If the pull is greater than that dude’s value, ace that dude.

A rewording will be issued in the compendium as follows:

Shootout: Choose an opposing dude with bullets less than Violet’s bounty while Violet is attempting a job. Ace Violet’s Hex to make a pull. If the pull is greater than that dude’s value, ace that dude.

This allows us to keep consistent with the Quaterman + Raking Dragons ruling, but not revisit every card that uses ‘and,’ such as Unprepared, which may cause further clarification issues.

Again, we apologize that the intent of the card was not accurately reflected in the wording and will ensure the change is noted in our online documents and strive to ensure the language is consistent in future releases.
