The rules check whether a dude has a legal amount of Weapons and Horses at the end of a Shoppin’ or Tradin’ play, and force them to discard to a legal amount if they exceed it. Something got me wondering - if I attach a Knight’s Chasuble to a dude who already has a Condition attached, at the end of the play do the rules check for legal state, see that the dude cannot attach Conditions, and discard the Condition?

This dude’s value cannot be reduced.
Conditions cannot be attached to this dude.

Apologies for the delay. We are currently examining how this ruling may affect a change in a previous ruling regarding another item. We should have a response up shortly
First of all the Chasuble says “this dude’s value cannot be reduced.” Just like the previous announcement on Fancy New Hat, this will only prevent value reduction on the dude while he is wearing it. It does not cancel previous reductions. If the Dude was hit by Sanitorium and then receives the Chasuble, he still has the -1 value until its normal “end.” (Sundown)
Second, it says “conditions cannot be attached to this dude.” This is a prevention effect that keeps future conditions from being attached to the dude. It does not remove previous conditions.
