Nightmare at Noon and Jia Mein

A query during play last night reporting here for information/reference. I checked whether the last sentence on NaN (‘Each dude in the shootout with 0 or 1 bullets becomes a draw.’) took priority if a shootout ability was activated afterwards (i.e. Attach a Hex to Jia Mein (paying all costs) to make him a stud.')

Response was thus:
‘Nightmare at Noon checks at the point it was played. The effect does last the shootout, but if another effect happens afterwards then that comes into effect.’

So if Nightmare at Noon is dropped, then Jia’s shootout ability is used then the recently played shootout ability comes into play.Whereas if Jia’s ability to make him a stud is used first then Nightmare at Noon is dropped, the Nightmare penalty is in effect on Jia (bullet rating depending).

Nightmare at Noon won’t prevent Jia Mein later using his ability to become a stud.

You play and resolve it, and then it’s done.

@forkbanger has it right, here. You play and resolve the effect, and then it’s done.
