Shootout Miracle X, Boot: Choose an opposing dude. X is that dude’s value. If that dude’s controller reveals a cheating hand this round and you reveal a legal hand, ace that dude. This acing effect cannot be prevented.

Barton Everest
If you reveal a cheatin’ hand in Barton’s shootout, raise your draw hand rank by 1 for this round…

If a player targets a dude with Retribution who has an on reveal trait, for instance Barton Everest, and their hand is legal while opponent with Barton Everest is cheating, does opponent get +1 hand rank before Barton gets aced, or does Retribution ace Barton before his trait activates?

Hello.

Resolve these kinds of pending effects in the traits timing window (all of the Winner’s traits, fully resolving them one at a time, and then clockwise around the table).

If Barton’s player is the Winner then they get the hand rank bonus, and then he dies (Winner’s trait, then the other player).
If Retribution’s player is the Winner then Barton is aced before he can resolve his trait (Winner’s trait, then the other player).
